[livejournal.com profile] ashfae: "It'll be really nice to only have two legs instead of three."[1]

Followed by "do you know what I could do to you with three legs?" Answers on a postcard please.

This has been a fun trip for the most part so far. Today is going to be a little scary, as I get interrogated by the entire Kempe family (except for the ones I met last night, who got there first and were very nice - and I have a prospective uncle-in-law who's a great cook, and several nice prospective cousins-in-law. Oh god, we're going to have in-laws.)

We have visited many bookstores, Pearl Street, a sex shop, lots of good restaurants, and an American pub with insane amounts of beer ([livejournal.com profile] sakuratea suggested that I should try the sampler, and I assumed it would be six smallish glasses. It was six rather substantial glasses, about a half-pint each... and bear in mind that two pints is my usual limit for social drinking...) Yesterday was somewhat hungover. Urgh. [livejournal.com profile] sakuratea and [livejournal.com profile] ashfae also taught me to play Sorry, and whipped my Sorry ass.

Had dinner with [livejournal.com profile] lostknight the previous day, which was lovely (and his journal is not indicative of the rest of his personality at all, he's a great guy in person.) And he is another conspirator in the great plot to get me hooked on anime (co-conspirators so far include... er... everybody who's on Ash's friendslist, or so it seems.)

[1]She was talking about her return flight to the UK, which is on September 28th and via Newark to Edinburgh arriving 29th. Yay!

We are all dressed up, shaved/made-up as appropriate, and dreading every minute of looking forward to the engagement party... unfortunately, the hostess is stuck several miles away due to a flat battery, and may not actually be there when the party starts... yerk.

Ah well. There will apparently be excellent food, and that can make up for practically anything. I don't think it'll be too terrifying, but you never know. And at least we have some surprises of our own. *desperately tries to think up short speech to go with presents for people*

Also, I'm slightly worried about how many people will understand my accent. Och...
